THE PEREGRINE SOCIETY OF ST. LOUIS
UNION CHURCH UNIT

A group of women who enjoy sewing and fellowship gather each week at the church to cut, sew and tie quilts to be used as lap robes and occasionally medicinal items for clients of the St. Louis Peregrine Society. This agency aids cancer patients in the St. Louis area. New volunteers are welcome and sewing skills are not needed since there are several steps in addition to sewing which comprise this volunteer program. Contact the church office for more information.

SATURDAY SERVANTS

NOTE: Saturday Servants (SatServ) is now being administrated by LASM.  It is a community outreach project of 5 Lindenwood Area Churches-LASM.  Union United Methodist was the starting church for the program and provides many of the project volunteers. The program is for homeowners or renters who are living in the surrounding community, to assist older adult homeowners with home maintenance, repair, and adaptation projects.  The focus of this program is to increase home safety with the ultimate goal of helping older adults live independently for as long as possible.  Projects include changing light bulbs, stabilizing or installing handrails, putting grab bars in showers, changing batteries in smoke detectors, clearing debris from outdoor walkways, etc.  The cost is free hands on support and is provided by teams of volunteers working at each residence to perform desired and necessary health and safety tasks, which can be accomplished in a single visit. The tasks are performed on Saturdays throughout the year, with other days and times upon request.
